MELITHA BLASCO
Spectacular Natural Formation
The Goreme Valley is a desert in the southwest of the Anatolian plateau, Turkey. Its famous and spectacular scenery was sculpted naturally by wind erosion. In 1983 UNESCO launched an international campaign to protect this natural wonder, and in 1984 coined a medal from the design of Handan Botorugene, a Turkish artist. On the reverse you can see the extraordinary formations. It is a natural wonder of which is hard to do justice with words.
