Rizong Monastery

Le gompa de Rizong, haut perché dans l'Himalaya, sur la rive droite de l'Indus, occupe un cirque remarquable. Les bâtiments blancs s'étagent en demi-cercle, tel un théâtre gréco-romain. Les cellules ouvrent leur unique fenêtre sur la vallée, offrant la simple intimité des moines à notre regard curieux : une unique pièce, sans isolation, où la natte voisine avec le réchaud à gaz, sous le traditionnel portrait du Dalaï Lama. Impression de bout du monde, de vie rude loin de la civilisation, mais quelles beautés !

The gompa Rizong, perched high in the Himalayas, on the right bank of the Indus, occupies a remarkable circus. The white buildings are staged in a semicircle as a Greco-Roman theater. Cells open their unique window on the valley, offering simple privacy monks our curious gaze: a single room without insulation, where the mat next to the gas stove, under the traditional portrait of the Dalai Lama.
