Gokteik Viaduct

If one thing can be said about the English in their imperialism, it is that, unlike other colonialists, they ruled their countries and colonies as if they would always remain in them, and have made some extraordinary feats of engineering in them, such as the rail network and some mountain railways in India and the Gokteik viaduct. The viaduct, at 700 feet long and 100 meters high, looms over the gorge where it was built in 1901. When it opened it was the world's longest viaduct. Construction was complicated by the fact that the gorge has a gradient of 1:40, so it goes up or down dramatically depending on which direction you take the train from.

Although it seems very safe and the train is still slower than usual when it crosses, some say that they can hear crunches of metal. However, if there is a failure, you will not have a chance to tell anyone about it.
