Inratable, la statue de Gethe rend évidemment hommage au célèbre auteur allemand, à qui l'on doit entre autres chef-d'œuvres la saga sur Faust ou encore Les souffrances du jeune Werther. Pourquoi un hommage de cette importance à Vienne ? On s'est posé la question, mais il semblerait que l'auteur est écrit une grande partie de ses ouvrages en Autriche.
