The more chaotic area of Varanasi

Godowlia or Godaulia, is undoubtedly the most chaotic of Varanasi, since by its circulating area thousands, rickshaw, cars, bikes etc, without respecting none of the traffic laws, so that cross from one sidewalk to another can become an adventure. The two Godowlia sidewalks are packed with shops selling all kinds of items, so you can say it is like a giant bazaar where you can buy everything imaginable. During the day the sound of the horn of the car is deafening and pollution makes the air almost unbreathable, until you get to the area near the ghats, where access is allowed only on foot or rickshaw, and in the evening before seven p.m., the human tide goes hurrying to occupy a place on the steps to watch the Aarti ceremony held every day of the year. One tip, do not try to cross the street in rainy days without proper shoes .. or almost say without good waders if possible, since absent sewer and water can reach you to your knees and crawls from dead animals until all debris imaginable. In the seats closest to the river, it is very common to find plastic bottles with water from the Ganges, which pilgrims take a souvenir or to purify the family who could not go to the city as well as offerings by way of flowers with a candle illuminating thrown into the river with small specks of light.

Amazing Crowd

Amazing Crowd

The Varanasi streets are extremely interesting, extremely old buildings, as one of the living oldest cities in the world, full of color, culture and religion. Godowlia is one of the amazing points for shopping with great prices and great variety of products! But if you want to escape the crowd go away, congestion is an ever-present thing here!
