Museum of sculptures

A museum dedicated to preserving sculptures of Greek and Roman cultures whose construction was ordered by King Ludwig I of Bavaria in order to create space for the "German Athens", outside the gates of the city . This museum is located in the neighborhood called Kunstareal, where you can also find another 3 museums. Surprising to see such a Greek Italian neoclassical style in the heart of Munich, whose designer was Leo von Kienze. This wonderful piece of architecture has an Ionic portico and walls decorated with sculptures along its length, except in the rear. The interior of the museum is vaulted marble was initially built, but due to the attacks of the Second World War, was badly damaged, so its reconstruction began, though not as original and missing sculptures and paintings.

Among the collections, there are included works dating from the year 650 BC to 550 AD, from the Archaic Period, the Classical Period, the Hellenistic era and the era of Roman sculptures. Although I could not visit the inside as it was closed, I could not resist taking a few pictures with my mobile where despite their poor quality you can get an idea of the beauty of the building.
