Glymur Waterfall

The Glymur Waterfall is in the west of Iceland n the Hvalfjördur Fjord. It is one of the highest waterfalls in Europe with a drop of 196 metres. It is only accessible on foot after a 2 hour excursion. To get there we headed to Akranes taking the Road 47 that runs along the fjord. We had to take the path that is at the mouth of the River Botnsa. This will take you to a parking area where the trail begins to Glymur. The first section is relatively flat. You have to cross the river crossing by a log with a tensioned cable in parallel. Before you had to go down through a cave. The most difficult part begins after crossing the river because the difference in level is very high.

Here watch out for the air currents, they are usually quite strong. For the more daring, I would say that we continued upstream until we found a place to cross. We took our shoes off, We crossed the river and went back to the parking area on the other side of the canyon.
