Glen Shee: an old summer house of the British monarchy

On the highway between Aberdeen Perth, crossing the Highlands on the east, past the village of Blairgowrie and Braemar, is this gorgeous valley, whose name in Gaelic means "the valley of the fairies". The Glen Shee is part of a busy tourist route along the River Dee, where there are places like Balmoral Castle (residence of the British monarchy in the summer), and the villages of Braemar and Ballater, and you will go inside Aberdeenshire County. The valley has one of the most famous ski resorts in the country, and a great selection of natural landscapes such as waterfalls, rivers, dams, bridges, etc.

Long ago the way through the valley was through pastoral routes used to communicate the central part of Scotland with Aberdeen Old City, based on what is now Aberdeen.
