National Scenic Area of Ben Nevis and Glencoe
This beautiful woodland and hilly area is located in the Scottish Highlands and is characterized by deep, narrow valleys and dense forests, winding for about 7.5 miles (12 km) of stunning, unforgettable scenery. Perhaps because of its importance in the history of the United Kingdom (you may have heard of the massacre of Glen Coe in 1692), it was selected as the magical natural setting for some scenes in the movie 'Braveheart'. Despite the presence of some cottages, the environment is sparsely populated and beautifully expresses its wild and primordial essence. The often-swampy land, and the mists which hover low over the landscape, help to create a mysterious and sometimes melancholy atmosphere.
