Gibalta Lighthouse
The Gibalta Lighthouse, together with the headlights Mama Esteiro, serve to define the bar threading southern port of Lisbon, Portugal. In 1952 a landslide destroyed the lighthouse and it fell on the railroad tracks. The new lighthouse was built 30 meters from where the old one stood, and it became operational on February 10, 1954. In 1981 it was fully automated. Its current appearance, with the white painted tower and dome ribs and red, is fairly recent. Until 1973 its color was gray, and that was the year the tower was painted white, which remained for a few years. It's located between Caxias and Cruz Quebrada, Oeiras at [38 º 42 '.02 N, 9 ° 15' .89 W].
