Alicante is a city prepared for tourism on a large scale, so there's plenty of accommodation available to all visitors. If you're coming for a couple of days, then guest houses like this one can be a cheaper option than the hotels in the city. There are single, individual apartments, and it's a bit cheaper than in the rest of Alicante. It's very central, so you won't need to take any public transport; everything is close by. There's some great nightlife around the area, too.
