Tavern frequented by George Washington
Known as the tavern frequented by George Washington, the George Washington Tavern retains its original location from 1762 in a small, red-brick, English-style building. It is situated near the ferry port that goes to Staten Island and Wall Street. Inside the style is like an English pub. It's dark and there's a historical fresco on a wall. I only had a beer when I went but I believe that it's also a renowned restaurant. The service was not very good on the day we went which is a strange thing in New York where the waiters are always very friendly and efficient.
