Jardí del Túria

The story of this garden is amazing, being that it is located on the old Turia riverbed. The terrible floods caused by the river brought so much misery to Valencia that they decided to get rid of it and in its place build a garden.

The result, inaugurated in 1986, is marvellous: over several blocks (the park has a total of 110 hectares) you can walk through a green park, crossed by antique bridges over 300 old years and dotted with fountains bordered by orange trees. The Turia Garden, much more than other urban public parks, is inhabited by a marvellous serenity.

This is due to it being at a lower level of the city meaning that the noises do not disturb.

This is a magnificent public park in Valencia. It’s an immense place, with its 110 hectares occupying the old Turia river. It’s the second largest public park in Spain, after Zaragoza’s water park. While walking through the city, you’ll see where there obviously used to be a river, but is now completely dried up. The park was created about 20 years ago, 30 years after the great flood of Valencia, where 80 people were killed. The river dried up and was made a park.

The park has various bridges crossing over top. There’s a great variety of trees, sports facilities, playgrounds, etc. There’s always something different along the course of the old river.

This park, located in the old Turia riverbed, is part of the numerous green spaces in the city. Many of the city's famous bridges cross the park, like the "Sea Bridge" the "Queen’s Bridge," among others.

There are bicycle paths, fountains, playgrounds, sports facilities, bars, skating areas, trails, green grass, benches, flower gardens, and Gulliver park for kids.

It’s the city’s largest green lung, with a diversity of trees.

The Turia Garden is an urban park of 110 ha. Founded in 1986 on the old riverbed, after being canalized and redirected to the outside of the city. One of its most central section’s joins with the Parque de Viveros (Nursery Park). The Garden crosses the city practically from the port, more specifically from the Arts and Sciences complex to the new Bioparc which houses the Valencia Zoo. This route can be made perfectly walking.
