A strange legend
This is the park in Parnell Square. It is known because it has a statue commemorating one of the most famous Irish legends. At the start of my Erasmus in Dublin, I had two weeks of English classes, during which I got a text about this story. I don't remember everything, but it was about a widower who lived with his three children. The king wanted his daughter to marry him, so she did. Over time, she became a bit obsessive and grew jealous of the love her husband showed to his children, so she promised to bring them to their grandfather, and along the way she turned them into swans, leaving them a lake in the forest, but they kept their human voices.
The children were cursed to live 3000 years, watching helplessly as their father died. I'm sure there's more to the story that I've forgotten, but anyway, you can see the statue here.
