Garden of Friendship
The Chinese Friendship Garden (Garden of Friendship) in Sydney is a must-see if you have the opportunity to travel to this city. It is located in Darling Harbour, Sydney city center, which is near the sea, shopping area and Chinatown. This garden was a gift from China to Sydney and it first opened in 1988. It has a lot of cultural interest because it is one of the few traditional Chinese gardens that can be seen outside of China. It's very beautiful, I had never been to a typical Chinese garden before and I was really impressed knowing that it's entirely handmade and that it took two years to complete.
The design is authentically Chinese and is based on the Taoist theory of yin and yang. In it you can see small waterfalls, lakes and beautiful forests. There is also a section with bonsai trees and the lake in the middle is stunning, it's full of fish and surrounded by weeping willows and all kinds of trees of Chinese origin. There is another area where there are thousands of planted bamboo branches where you can even take pictures with a woman dressed in traditional Chinese clothing. The Garden of Friendship also has a Tea House where you can try different kinds of Chinese teas and it can also be rented for weddings or photo shoots. The entrance fee is approximately 3.5 euros for adults, and 1.80 euros for children.
