1 review of Gamla Lundagatan

A magnificent place

Skinnarviksberget is the highest natural point in Stockholm and the only hill in the city to remain empty or nearly so, with few trees and buildings. Workers and poor people have traditionally lived here. In the eighteenth century, there were plantations and factories, producing tobacco, textiles and wool. On the coast, Sknnarviksstrande, there was a cork factory, a machine shop, and several beer and vodka factories, from the mid-nineteenth century. On the north side of the street you can still see several houses from this era, well-preserved, painted red and yellow - low but very cozy. Other houses are made from stone, with fairly large gardens and views of the lake and the rest of the city.

It's a nice neighbourhood to go for a walk - a little off the beaten track, and with the chance to admire the rest of the city from a higher point. We can see Gamla Stan, the old town, and the Baltic Sea; on a clear day, it's magnificent.
