The border between Bulgaria and Romania
The border between Bulgaria and Romania is formed by the Danube River. Natural boundaries always seem to have worked better than the borders made by men. The Danube is wide, you have to cross a big bridge, shared with cars and freight trains. As Romania is now part of the European Union, there is no procedure for those who have a passport from the Union. On the Bulgarian side, you have to buy a sticker for 5 euros for a week and you can use the roads. The police are not the type that you forge relationships with, so buy it, go or not to take the highway, and they won´t be able to say anything. The border with Bulgaria is an hour and a half of road from Bucharest, out the national 5 towards the south and the city of Giurgiu.
