Large shopping area
This street is named "French Street". It's a neighborhood street in Mitte, which comes from the memorial to the murdered Jews, towards Friedrichstrasse. It is a large shopping area with many upscale shops, hotels and restaurants. Before the war it was most vibrant, and the "French Quarter" after the partition of Berlin and you can see that some streets have French names. The Germans had difficulty pronouncing some names, so in 2000 the city changed the street names to German names. Until 1994 France had troops in this sector!
