Forte Defensor Perpétuo

Uma das construções históricas mais antigas de Paraty, o Forte Defensor Perpétuo foi erguido no fim do século XVIII para proteger o porto e entrada do antigo núcleo colonial que representava o fim do Camniho do Ouro. Com baixa produtividade das minas, o forte ficou em desuso, se transformando em ruínas que foram reabilitadas durante o Império. No meado do século XX, o forte foi tombado pelo IPHAN, nesta bela cidade que tem seu centro histórico como Patrimônio da Humanidade. Hoje o lugar atrai turistas, sejam amantes de história ou aqueles que procuram uma bela vista da cidade, o mar e as diversas ilhas da baía de Paraty. Acho que o governo local deveria cuidar mais do patrimônio histórico, que conta com peças de guerra esquecidas ao relento e algumas ruínas. Em certas partes me senti inseguro, com várias trilhas abertas irregularmente e pessoas consumindo drogas. Por isso vá em horário movimentado e em grupo, pois apesar disto, vale a pena.

One of the oldest historical buildings in Paraty, the Forte Defensor Perpétuo was erected in the late 18th century to protect the port and entrance of the old colonial nucleus that represented the end of the Camniho do Ouro. With low productivity of the mines, the fort was in disuse, turning into ruins that were rehabilitated during the Empire. In the mid-twentieth century, the fort was overtaken by IPHAN, in this beautiful city that has its historical center as a World Heritage Site. Today the place attracts tourists, whether they are history lovers or those looking for a beautiful view of the city, the sea and the various islands of the bay of Paraty. I think the local government should take better care of the historical patrimony, which has forgotten pieces of war in the open and some ruins. In certain places I felt insecure, with several trails open irregularly and people taking drugs. So go on a busy schedule and in a group, because despite this, it"s worth it.
