Former University of Gandia

In 1549 the future San Francisco de Borja built a university in Gandia - the Society of Jesus (la Compañía de Jesús). The building was made up of cells, refectory, infirmary, offices, classrooms, school and a church. For over two centuries it taught college classes, until in 1767 the expulsion of the Jesuits was decreed. Escolapios fathers took possession of the building in 1806 and have remained in it until today, they still use a portion of the building for teaching.
