An adventurous rive crossing
Situated on the grounds of the former Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire, in northern England, the ford over the River Wharfe was the only way to cross the river before the construction of the adjoining bridge (the less adventurous can choose this option!) Although shallow (only about 1 meter deep), the river is cold and the current would make for a nasty fall - as you're sure to contemplate when you step carefully across the wobbling rocks, being eyed all the time by curious ducks who seem to be waiting for you to trip!
