Fontfroide Abbey

Southwest of Narbonne, is on a small rocky valley Corbieres, hidden Cistercian is where you'll find this fabulous abbey. The abbey can be found right in the heart of a typically Mediterranean landscape that's dominated by cypress, pine and boxwood trees. The Abbey's origins date back to the late eleventh century. After adopting Benedictine rule, Fontfroide joins the mid-twelfth century, to the order of "Citeaux". During the Crusade against the Albigensians, Fontfroide is affirmed as orthodox Catholic bastion against the Cathars. You can visit the inside but if you do not want to go, walk around is magnificent and from the mountain appreciate all this architectural beauty of the abbey.

From January to March, November, and December: 10h-12h and 14h-16h April, May, June, September and October: 10h-12h and 14h-17h July and August 10am-18pm Adult: € 9 Children: 2,5 € and guided tours in Spanish are offered. This location has parking for buses and motorhomes where people can sleep, although there is a sign prohibiting it. Don't tell anyone, but I've done it both nights hahaha. There's hardly anyone there, which means no noise! Cultural Shop selling wines Fontfroide Abbey in Cava.
