Chateau de Foix

The castle is currently sheltering the Ariège Museum, which becomes the theater of a great historic and spectacular occasion of the medieval days every summer. The three towers of the proud castle are bigger then anything else in the town and adorn their heraldry. In the middle ages the city drew its resources from the wool and the mineral iron transformed into numerous Catalan type forges. Foix represents ​​the prefecture of Ariège, and is now a center of tertiary and industrial activities like electronics and textiles.
