Floriana Guest House

This small hotel, dating back to 1930, is a real find in Cairns, the base city if you want to visit the Great Barrier Reef. Old-style accommodation in a relaxed family atmosphere. In the lobby, there's a beautiful piano and a staircase leading upstairs to the rooms. They are exquisite, tastefully decorated, and some with sea views. There are several wicker chairs out front, where you can relax while watching the sea. At the back is a small pool and a barbecue. The cost is below the city average, but still not exactly cheap.
