A stunning trip
In Venezuela there are many places where one can enjoy freshwater fishing. One of them is the Guri. In the Guri there are many fishing camps, but this is the most suitable place. This place surely doesn't have the same luxuries and comforts of other camps. Neither is it the easiest to get to. But if you go fishing, this is the place. Run by Steve, an American who never quite understood how it was that he ended up there after passing through Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala and I don't know how many other countries, is an expert on freshwater fishing. The cabins are very comfortable. They are air-conditioned and the boats are incredible: custom-made and perfect for fishing.
I arrived by road from Caracas (like a fifteen-hour trip) but most arrive by plane. If you call Steve, he'll organize it all. Many foreigners visit. It's a great experience even if you have no experience in fishing. You do not waste hours browsing to get a place to fish. The only bad thing is that the weather can be a bit harsh. Either the sun will be too intense or sudden storms will hit, though a half hour later intense sunlight will return.
