Market Hidden in a Idyllic Courtyard
In the heart of Madrid's buttoned-up Salamanca neighborhood, there's a hidden courtyard full of flowing vines, warm Christmas lights, pastel lanterns, and local boutiques selling everything from kitchenware to swimsuits. The "market" itself if many for girls...well, it's exclusively for girls, so keep that in mind before catching the metro over there. It is, however, a really cool place for a curious glance if you happen to be in the neighborhood. The canopy of vines and trees keep it nice and cool from the dust and heat of summer, and it makes for a refreshing little stop on your tour of the Barrio Salamanca.
The stores, as I mentioned, are for women (or yuppies) and sell cutesy home accessories like milk cartons, tea sets, and egg-holders, as well as a couple boutiques selling cute dresses and shoes. For me, though, the real reason to go is the elegant, bohemian atmosphere.
