Yampara culture

Tarabuco is a Bolivian town in the province of Yampara, and the department of Chuquisaca. It's the cradle of the Yampara culture. As you can see from the photo, the people's costumes are very unique, especially on market day when everyone wears their prettiest dresses to town to sell their stores and buy a week of provisions. Some only come down once a month, which makes the market a big event. The people are sunburned at three thousand feet in above sea level, and they are all very dark. Despite the cold, most people walk with sandals and no socks, because the costume itself is hot and protects them from the cold.
