A historical monument
The ethnographic museum is housed in the Mica square, and is a branch of the National Museum. Opened in 1993, this is the only museum in Romania that attempts to investigate and exploit the ethnographic heritage of countries outside Europe. It has exotic collections from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. There are donations from the Society of Natural Sciences and private individuals. There are objects from the Nile region and North Africa, from Japan, Brazil, and Australia. They also have temporary exhibitions. The museum is a historical monument, built in the Hermes House, once home of the city's artisans.
