A marble full of details
In the Republic Square of Valletta still has a figure of Queen Victoria, ruler of Britain between 1837 and 1901, and Empress of India from 1877, to its end. In fact, quite a few Maltese refer to this agora as Queena Plaza. The great stone queen does not lack detail, with a crown on her head, a lock of loose hair, and a scepter in her right hand resting on her lap. The left, meanwhile, rises gently in the direction of her head, as if in kindness or blessing. Her cloak falls gently on the pedestal, and a podium on which rests sitting on a solid chair decorated with two lateral flowers. Carved in marble, the granddaughter of George III boasts a privileged position in the square, located above all the heads on a sturdy pedestal built on the same material.
