Statue of Jan Ignacy Skorupka

Frente a la Catedral de San Miguel Arcangel y San Florian se ha herigido un monumento a uno de los más ilustres vecinos de Varsovia, el sacerdote católico y mando del ejércidto polaco Ignacy Jan Skorupka, cuya muerte se convirtió en todo un símbolo de la Batalla de Varsovia allá por 1920 (el hombre en cuestión falleció concretamente el día 14 de agosto de dicho año). Para rendir tributo a su paisano, la ciudad levantó esta broncinea escultura de cuerpo entero que simula movimiento en la que Skorupka aparece querer avanzar hacia adelante mientras su estola y capa hondean en el viento. A sus pies, en un alto pináculo de piedra, se puede ver el emblema de su regimiento/división. A su derecha, en letras doradas, se ha escrito su nombre y su fecha de nacimiento y muerte. La estatua está situada justo enfrente de la alta iglesia, a mano izquierda, entre los espacios verdes que dan la bienvenida al templo. Es muy fácil de encontrar.

In front of the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Florian has herigido a monument to one of the most illustrious sons of Warsaw, the Catholic priest and command of Polish Ignacy Jan ejércidto Skorupka, whose death became a symbol of the Battle of Warsaw back in 1920 (the man in question specifically died on August 14 of that year).
