Estación de trenes de Vilnius

La Estación Central de Vilna (“Vilniaus geležinkelio stotis” en el idioma local) es el centro de transportes más importantes de Lituania. Ubicada al sur del casco histórico de la ciudad, esta es la terminal de prácticamente todos los servicios de trenes de pasajeros tanto al resto del país como a ciudades en Polonia, Rusia, Estonia, Bielorrusia y Letonia. El edificio fue construido originalmente en el año de 1861, y desde entonces el sitio se convirtió en una parada del trayecto entre San Petersburgo y Varsovia. Se trata de una construcción del estilo del realismo socialista, por lo que realmente sentirás como si te hubieran transportado a alguna ciudad de la antigua Unión Soviética. A un costado de la estación de trenes se encuentra también la terminal de autobuses, por lo que seguramente pasarás por el lugar sin importar el tipo de transporte que utilices para llegar a la ciudad. Desde aquí hay varias líneas de autobús urbano que te llevarán directamente la casco histórico de la ciudad en menos de quince minutos.

The Vilnius Central Station ("Vilniaus geležinkelio stotis" in the local language) is the most important transport center in Lithuania. Located south of the historic center of the city, this is the terminal of virtually all passenger train services to the rest of the country as well as to cities in Poland, Russia, Estonia, Belarus and Latvia. The building was originally built in the year of 1861, and since then the site became a stop on the way between St. Petersburg and Warsaw. It is a construction of the style of socialist realism, so you will really feel as if you had been transported to some city in the former Soviet Union. To the side of the train station is also the bus terminal, so you will probably pass by the place regardless of the type of transport you use to get to the city. From here there are several urban bus lines that will take you directly to the historic center of the city in less than fifteen minutes.
