Luxury mountain lodge
This has to be one of the most beautiful locations for a luxury mountain lodge. Starting the morning with eggs Benedict and smoked salmón, Frank Sinatra playing in the historic dining room and a wonderful view across Emerald lake is unbeatable.
The lodge was built in the early 1900's to support tourism linked the Canadian Pacific Railway and many of the period features can still be enjoyed in the main lodge. The surrounding area is notable for the Burgess shale beds where fossils of soft-bodied marine animals were found filling a critical gap in the fossil record.
Staying at the hotel is expensive and food and drink is not covered in the accommodation costs.
