The restaurant of the artists
This is a restaurant with history. Its dates back to 1932 and, since then, it has been one of the favorite restaurants of artists and the world of culture in Finland. It is also very close to an artists' residence. This cultural influence can be seen in dishes with the names of the artists at tables where they would sit. Its décor is very classic, but well maintained, without highlighting excesses or deficiencies. The food is of very good quality, both meat and fish portions are quite abundant. It has an extensive menu with outstanding entrees that are typically Finnish and it has different types of meat and fish.
Tenderloin with pepper, for example, is highly recommended. They offer what they call "classics" such as fried herring with mashed potatoes, and various desserts each more palatable, such as the warm chocolate cake with mascarpone mousse and Cointreau. In addition, attention is pretty good. The restaurant has a large lounge, a bar counter that is quite spacious and in summer features an outdoor terrace which makes a meal even more enjoyable. Prices aren't too expensive for a good restaurant in Finland but somewhat higher than Spain, but the quality is excellent and the dishes are very well worked and prepared. Occasionally it has small exhibitions and musical performances. The trouble with this location, especially for tourists, is that it is out of the center and the tourist area. It is very near the Sibelius monument and not far from Kamppi Metro Station.
