A romantic place to walk
Not far from Cambuskenneth Bridge, this walk runs along the side of the river. Since the fourteenth century, it's been known as the Lovers' Walk, and is one of the most romantic places in the city of Stirling. It has a fascinating history, linked to Cambuskenneth Abbey, the only abbey in Scotland dedicated to the Virgin Mary. According to historical records, over 60% of courtships and marriages in Stirling had the origins in the festivals and pilgrimages to Mary that involved this walk.
Today it seems like a park, flanked by trees on one side and the river on the other, with beautiful views.
