THE WINGED PEGASOS
This sculpture, along with 3 more, is found in the plaza outside the Palace of Fine Arts in central Mexico City. "The Winged Pegasos" are made of bronze and are from Spain. In the original draft of the Palace of Fine Arts from the early twentieth century Adamo Boari planned to place these four sculptures, made by the Catalan Agustin Querol, in cubes topping the Palace stage. Upon suspension of construction during the revolutionary period they remained in storage until 1920. Once the Palace of Fine Arts was completed in 1934 they were finally removed and placed in the Zocalo on new pedestals framing
