El Bisonte

In the grounds of Manuel Barquin Park, facing the auditorium, is a sculpture, which catches many of us by surprise by not grasping its meaning. It is a tender tribute by the city council to a local sports figures. Juanjo Cobo is a natural cantabro of Torrelavega and was launched to stardom in the world of cycling, where he has stood out on several occasions. It is nicknamed the Bisonte de la Pesa and hence the sculpture of this animal is one of the most beautiful spots of the town.
