A glorious past
Dunblane Cathedral headquarters was long ago independent, with religious power, judicial. Today it is dependent on Stirling council but the local government buildings are remnants of a glorious past. Three buildings are still standing: the general registers, the library (formerly Institute) and the Sheriff's office (with built-in court). The last time these were autonomous buildings was during Victorian times, in the nineteenth century. At present the general registers work better than those in central, I registered the birth of my son there. Municipal buildings currently comprise the historic city resort, the centerpiece being the cathedral, but worth seeing, as they are free and you can stroll through the city, from one to another.
