Worth a visit
The Piazza Duomo in Lecce is a real must-see if you're visiting this city. This square is a good example of Baroque architecture. It is considered a "closed square" because it has a single entry and exit, and the doors used to be closed at night. Today, there are no doors, although the place where they stood is still visible. Dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, it was built in 1144, remodeled in 1230, and finally changed even more in the seventeenth century. The cathedral has three naves, and no less than 12 altars.
