East Lothian fishing village
Dunbar is a fishing village located on the road between Edinburgh and Newcastle, in the area known as East Lothian. Lobster fishing is one of the main industries here, along with other forms of seafood. Once it was a Viking settlement, but it became part of Scotland in the Middle Ages. The recent discovery of human remains dating from the Mesolithic period suggests that Dunbar was one of the oldest urban centers in the country. In medieval times it had the title of Royal Burgh, because it was an important trading center. The famous naturalist John Muir was born in this village, and today his house can be visited as a museum.
