Looked a bit decadent
After leaving the tourist office we went to the Municipal Market, which is across from the Marques de Pombal. The building is quite large with 2 floors. You can buy meat, fish and fruit in the stores on the ground floor, and clothing, footwear and vegetables on the 1st floor. It was closed when we went, but the truth is that we thought it looked a bit decadent. Then we learned that the previous month there had been a huge fire that had destroyed most of the building. The market building was inaugurated on July 2, 1982 and is in the heart of the city, near the Town Hall and major city streets.
