The port of Philipsburg is the main economic engine of the city and the island and is the 9th major port and destinations of the Caribbean. Its full name is "Dr. Wathey AC Cruise & Cargo Facilities", in honor of Claude Wathey when St. Maarten became 1 of the main tourist destinations in the Caribbean.
