Diogo Cão House
On one side of Praça Camilo Castelo Branco, next to City Hall and the Cathedral, is the birthplace of Diogo Cão, navigator, explorer of the west coast of Africa and discoverer of the Zaire River in the XV century. It's a 3-storey medieval house with a stone facade, the most striking feature is the external staircase covered by a wide arch. It's classified as Public Interest Property (IPP). Also in the upper area of the city is a garden square with the same name with the monument of Diogo Cão.
