London's Tin Pan Alley
Denmark Street is a small and unassuming road near the Tottenham Court Road and Covent Garden tube stops, but it packs a ton of history. Basically, it’s known as Britain’s Tin Pan Alley and has been a home to music publishers, recording studios, and gear shops ever since the 1920’s. Everyone from the Rolling Stones to the Sex Pistols recorded their demos here, and it was a popular hang out for British music luminaries like David Bowie, Jimmy Page, and Donovan.
Today, the street is full of instrument shops selling everything from mandolins and pianos to Fling V guitars and drum-sets. It’s not a major tourist attraction in and of itself but it’s a cool place to explore if you’re a music fan or just happen to be in the area.
