Hiking and Canoeing in lesser known Denali State Park
Denali State Park, a massive area on the eastern side of Denali National Park, is a spectacular place that features some of the best views of Mt. McKinley in the state. There are many activities in the park, but hiking and canoeing at Byers Lake is very popular. A short trail at the Denali View South Viewpoint is a must on a clear day, and for the more ambitious, hiking on the Little Coal Creek Trail offers spectacular views of the mountain.
If you are driving from Anchorage north to the famous national park, set aside time to hike some of the trails in the state park and you will be rewarded!
