Decorated Portals

The silhouettes of wooden doors in the villages of Maramures are very typical of the homes that are to be found in this region. In front of every house, is a piece of art that is being lost over time, traditional ornamentation from past generations of the views of the world around them. In general, the portals are works of humble village artisans. But there is a technical skill and an impressive aesthetic sense. Sometimes, portals simply tell the stories of the family whose house is protected from prying eyes by these wooden doors. Sometimes, there is a much more symbolic, personal touch ... general portals are maintained by three pillars of oak wood sculptures, surrounding a small door used by pedestrians.
