Casa de las Muertes

LEGEND

Known as the house of death, this was built in the early sixteenth century by Juan de Alava as a family residence. It is named after the skulls that decorate the facade. There are four skulls carved in stone. In the front, there's a bust dedicated to Alonso de Fonseca (patron of Juan de Alava). As the skulls were thought to bring bad luck, nobody wanted to buy the building, so it fell into disrepair until its restoration in 1963.
