I'm so glad we did. We met a "retired" gentleman who apprenticed with a broom maker years ago, when he was in his 60's. Now in his mid-70's, he runs the business with occasional help from his wife but he does all work by hand. Incredible! He demonstrated how to make a broom using straw, twine, wire and, in the example he showed us the day we were there, a dried cactus for a handle. His work was meticulous and you could see he took pride in it.
