Daviére Beach
Along the 15 miles of beach of Saint-Jean-de-Monts you can find the Grande Plage, but there are other smaller beaches which are more wild. Davière Beach is one of them. In this protected area, you can admire the big dunes where thistles grow. It is not monitored, so it is not advisable to swim there, but it has another advantage: This beach is famous for fishing molluscs such as clams in the Mediterranean, which is then sauteed with butter and herbs. It is a specialty of the city. So, if you visit Davière beach when the tide is low you can see many people looking in the sand for shellfish.
