Dasawamedi Ghat
When sunlight arrivs and the moon is down, we hear the first sounds. We start to move along the Ganges towards the music. The boat barely moves, it's like a coffin and a slab of wood. Little by little, we progress. Floating trays offer bright lights and smell of sandalwood, carried by the mild current. We can hear the music now, it becomes much clearer; it is coming from Dasawamedi Ghat. There is a ceremony all afternoon in the Ganga Aarti at sunset. Suddenly, a big fish emerges and quickly sinks again, leaving concentric circles of dark and gloomy bubbles. The boatman tells me that the fish is a "Susu", a small blind dolphin.
