1 review of Dartmoor National Park

A nature reserve

Excellent

The Dartmoor National Park is a nature reserve that extends about 1 000km ² in the south of England, not far from the port of Plymouth. This park has a very particular landscape characterized by rocky and barren moors where you can find sheep, cows and horses grazing. There are also specific geological formations: the "Tors", hills topped with granite outcrops. One of these is the highest peak in the park, "High Wilhays" (621 meters). The Dartmoor National Park is also known to house many historical relics, some dating back to prehistoric times: standing stones, cairns, megalithic alignments ...

The area is largely privately owned, but hikers can pass freely through the majority of Dartmoor.
